Hi! It's nice to have you here, on the blog that I've spent way too much time building.

I always wanted a blog. I'm not even too sure why, to be honest. I guess part of it is that I always feel like I have so much to say - and yet now that I actually have a place to say it, I find myself struggling to find the words. Figures.

Oh well, let's see how it goes.

On the bright side, I'm really proud of how the design turned out, and honestly everything on the technical side too. I'd been wanting to actually understand Next.js for a while rather than just use it, and building this was a good excuse. I ended up pulling in more pieces than I originally planned - Convex, PostHog - and I think I actually get how they fit together now, which is a nice feeling. The design is inspired by a website called GameDate.org that uses a stylesheet called vgui.css. It's that old Valve Gold Source-era UI look - if you've ever opened the settings menu in Half Life or Counter Strike 1.6, you know the vibe. I've always had a soft spot for it.
